Living in Florida Makes it Tough to Ignore the Political Season
Sunday, October 19th, 2008These days, for those who are living in Florida - specifically those who live near Jacksonville and other major cities - don’t seem to be able to get away from the fact that the next presidential election is less than three weeks away. Fortunately, a lot less of the talk has to do with hanging chads, but still, it’s tough not to scan the morning papers just to make sure that there are not any traffic blockages for rallies being help by the presidential hopefuls and their running mates.
No matter how you characterize your political leanings and regardless of which candidate you are leaning toward, you’re likely to find yourself thinking about attending an event just to say that you were there when. . . You may find yourself curious about what the candidates have to say about the economy, offshore drilling and other issues that are central to the election.
Wherever you stand, you’re going to find that it’s tough to ignore that everyone and everything involved with the political spectrum; the most important thing that you can do if you’re one of the many who live on Florida’s First Coast or elsewhere in the state is simply to get out there and make sure that you vote.
