Jacksonville Jaguars: Wishing a Quick Recovery to Richard Collier

It’s not every day that this blog is committed to giving well wishes, and yet it’s unlikely that anyone living in Jacksonville or any of the other nearby First Coast communities isn’t going to understand the impulse to wish a speedy recovery to Richard Collier of the Jaguars.

For those who don’t know:

(source)Jacksonville Jaguars offensive tackle Richard Collier remained in critical condition Wednesday after being shot several times.

The 26-year-old National Football League blocker, and former teammate Ken Pettway were parked outside an apartment when an unknown assailant opened fire. Pettway was unharmed.

“There is really not a lot more that can be added,” Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio said. “Those are the facts. It’s what we’re dealing with. He was a victim of a crime.”

For those who are gearing up for the start of the NFL season - officially tomorrow, but primarily this upcoming weekend - it’s difficult not to look at this news without thinking about Darrant Williams and Sean Taylor. It’s also difficult to not see that those who live in Jacksonville along with others who follow the team are going to have some concerns. The best thing that all of us can do - as a community - is to send well wishes and our best wishes for a quick recovery.
