Should You Retire to Jacksonville?

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

It’s interesting, really. When people think about retiring to Florida, often there are particular communities that they consider; often, Jacksonville - and nearby communities like Jacksonville Beach - isn’t near the top of the list. However, while looking at a list of 10 great places to retire, the following was included:

(source)Not quite as reserved as Punta Gorda, Jacksonville, Florida has quite a bit to offer. The weather is almost always gorgeous and you’ll be close to all sorts of entertainment and shopping establishments for the times you’re not enjoying the scenery right in your own backyard. The Riverside section of the city has grown into a popular destination for jazz and music lovers as well!

For those who have spent time in Jacksonville and in the surrounding areas, this isn’t something that’s going to come as a huge shock - aside from, perhaps, the fact that the writer was not talking about the features in a way that would suggest that a younger audience would appreciate as well. With beautiful scenery, easy access to the shore, art museums, colleges, sports teams and more, Jacksonville is a great place to be.

Should you retire to Jacksonville? Ultimately, the choice is up to you; however it’s a great idea to take some time and to visit the area - it’s the best way to see for yourself.

Those who were looking for the chance to sell some of those items that they just don’t use anymore have most likely scheduled time to participate in the “Barn of Bargains” event at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center. While it’s too late to get involved if you were thinking about renting space, it’s far from too late to pencil in August 30th or 31st into your calendar.
