Who Says St. Augustine Is a Great Place?
When it comes to trying to choose a great place to live in Northeastern Florida, most people are going to find themselves faced with a challenge. Between Ponce Inlet, St. Augustine, Jacksonville and Jacksonville Beach - among other areas, of course - how can you choose one over another?
Do you look at the beaches in each area? Do you compare restaurants or shopping? Do you look at the history of the area and scenic landmarks? Or do you look at who says the area’s great?
If you look to the Miami Herald for your information, it looks like you’ll have to head out to St. Augustine. According to a recent poll:
Everyone in St. Augustine knows that this city is special. Now it can add claim to being one of the Seven Wonders of Florida.
Readers of The Miami Herald voted St. Augustine to the list of the Seven Wonders of Florida from a list of 21 candidates. St. Augustine was the only place in north Florida so honored.
In its search to find the Sunshine State’s Seven Wonders, the Miami Herald travel section editors gave readers 21 choices. The 21 were natural or man-made, but all reflect the state’s beauty, history or culture.
Though St. Augustine placed third on the list, it was the only Northeast Florida area to make the cut. Was it the history? The art, the culture? Who knows - but if it’s such a great place to visit, you know it’s a great place to live!
